As the title says we want to hear about the motorcycling routes you just love
to ride.
Give us the starting point, road numbers and brief directions along with approximate mileage/time
and we'll post it on the site.
May also be a good idea if you could include any fixed or possible mobile safety camera locations!
Cafes, toilets or any other useful biker friendly places can be included too.
Of course this site does not advocate speeding on the public highway but
will include safety camera locations for your information.

Cumbria
A686 Penrith to Alston (submitted)
Do not belive the bit about no police, at a weekend the road crawls with the old bill, sneaking up on you and hidding
around corners, and they ain't looking at the scenery. The road is a good 'un, no doubt, but if you tire of it ,then keep
on going onto the A689 from Alston to Brampton, not quite as good but well worth the ride with quite a few fast twisty bits,
Halton Lea Gate has a 30 speed limit, apart from that it is yaahoo all the way.
Devon
A38/A30 Plymouth to Lands End (submitted)
Everything in one ride, from flat out dual carriageways to twisties with very few speed cameras and I've never even seen
a police car.
East Sussex
Ninfield to Asburnham (submitted)
Want to try out some knee sliders? This is a nutters route with lots of very sharp left and right corners. Be prepared
to do some niffty heavy braking (wild/farm animals). First go to the Kings Arms (opposite petrol station) in Ninfield then
take the road that goes to Catsfield. Keep going down this road until you come across a T junction. Turn left here. Keep along
this road until you come across another T junction, turn left again. You will then end up where you started from.
Essex
Thanks to Oli for sending this in.
I have been riding for 4 months now and I'm aboslutely loving it and I live in Great Sailing. From
Chelmsford (Essex) follow the A130 onto the A131 which meets the A120 and take a left onto the slip road and follow the signs
for Blake House Craft Center. When you see the Palm Trees Chinise resturant turn right. It will take you through
the country lanes and just follow the road to Finching Field.
This is a great ride on a sunny weekend and when you reach Finching Field follow the road and keep going straight
and you will soon see a long row of motorbikes of all kinds. Its very freindly and theres a couple of pubs and a coffee shop.
I highly recommend this for a Sunday ride.
Essex/Hertfordshire
Various routes in one!
Thanks to Ken Williams who published this on another site before it was sent in to us.
"Try this one. it's not circular but all sections are very popular (and, I understand, used by police for rider training
!)... "Start (or end) at Stumps Cross (Junction 9 on M11) take the B184 to Saffron Walden, on to Thaxted and Great Dunmow.
Lots of nice fast bends and twisty bits. Nice little towns too. Detour from Gt Dunmow (B1057) to Finchingfield for even
twistier bits and pretty village green with biker friendly pub and tea room. A very popular meeting place for bikes (old and
new), cars (old and new) and people (old and new). Carry detour on to Gt Bardfield and Haverhill (very twisty), turn
around and come back. Revert to B184 at Gt Dunmow and follow same road on to finish/start at Chipping Ongar. Fast straights,
fast bends and tight bends. Been a few fatal accidents along here so watch out. Distance: about 25+ miles, add another
20+ for full detour. Options: Carry on through Ongar to Abridge (passing White Bear biker pub), a fast sweepy run. Right at
Abridge to Theydon Boyes en route to High Beech, Epping Forest, another well known bike meeting place. Options from the M11
end include fast A roads east to Haverhill and beyond, B roads north to Newmarket and fast A's west to Royston, Baldock, etc.
(heavily GATSO'd though). Duxford Imperial War Air Museum is just a couple of miles from the M11 junction and worth
a visit."
Northamptonshire
B645 Higham Ferrers to St Neots
Nice run for a Sunday morning but the Police do know its a favourite for bikes and can sometimes be found with a mobile
unit on the route. Cafe/kiosk in large car park in St Neots with toilets. Biker friendly pub in Chelveston near Higham Ferrers.
Please watch your speed through the villages on route as it is believed that complaints from residents are another reason
for Police interest.
Norfolk
A47 Norwich to Great Yarmouth
A pleasant ride from Norwich to Great Yarmouth on a Friday evening ending at the White Swan Pub Whiteswan. This road
is part of the ring road around Norwich, going out through the countryside ( watch out for the 50MPH dual carriageway. Turn
right onto the Acle Straight about 8 miles before Yarmouth. This is single carriageway but has 2 straight sections each at
least 3 miles long. Straight over the first roundabout, you will see the pub on your left as you go over the river bridge.
Nottinghamshire
A60 Worksop circular (submitted)
This is circular route, hardly using the A60 at all. Leave Worksop on the A57, Bus: trunk road. to Todwick T lights,
Turn R: unclassified road, sign Thurcroft, After 2mls dog leg straight ahead, Oldcotes, left on to A60. 200 yds, left A630
Rotherham, to edge of Maltby. R/H/turn on to Rotherham / Bawtry road. This section consits of windy twisty lovely country
roads, continue thru Bawtry to Gainsboro: this is your wide sweeping fast road bit, but watch your speed thru EVERTON, because
Plod resides there on a VERY, Very regular basis. At 2nd roundabout, take A620 to Retford/Worksop. This can be joined to a
circle, that can then include a local motorcycle mecca called MATLOCK BATH! Leave on the 619 thru Chesterfield , again lots
of nests of plods reside around this area! But its the most direct and easy route to get there. Leave Chesterfield following
brown signs to Chatswrth and Buxton. Baslow T/l: at roundabout after about 1ml T/R to Bakewell. follow signs again to Buxton(A6)
Twisty, twisty, fasty, fasty knee down naughty bits HEE HEE Buxton, towards Ashbourne, After 5mls Newhaven, look for left
turn towards Cromford & Matlock. Yet another cheesy, cheesy, grinny, grinny road. Return direct from Matlock to Chesterfield
. Brill Sunday thrash about rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCOTLAND
A9 Perth to Inverness (submitted)
This road leads to the finest biking country in the U.K. However, beware of Mr Plod who patrols the A9 in a variety of
plain wrappers and sets up nasty speed traps from behind bushes. This leads to tickets by mail..... 60 limit all the way except
the few patches of twin track. Find a B&B in Inverness and enjoy the ultimate biking country when it's not pissing down
with rain. Fill-up at every opportunity as petrol stations can be pretty rare out of town.
A837 Boner Bridge to Lochinver (submitted)
The A837 is an A road which is single track with passing places - it could only be Scotland! Narrow, excellent twisties
and a superb view of Suilven for miles and miles. Stop at Lochinver, chips or afternoon tea for the more civilised and prepare
yourself for the next bit - the road to Ullapool via Stac Pollaidh. Just unbelievable. At times you can get up to a terrifying
50 mph - briefly. The twistiest road in the world. The scenery is awsome - lunar landscapes and primroses which you can admire
closely when you run out of road. And then the mountains. Stop and climb Stac Pollaidh - it's worth it. Ride this road or
die unfulfilled.
WALES
A470 Caersws circular via Aberystwth (submitted)
Seeing is believing, this route must be the ultimate bikers dream. It will test your skills to the limit. (watch out
for the sheep)
Starting at Caersws, head south towards Llanidloes (avoid the town via the bypass) and take the A44 at Llangurig for
Aberystwyth. This part of the trip will take your breath away. After your break at Aberystwyth beach head for Machynlleth
on the A487. At Machynlleth turn right at the town clock onto the A489, then a right turn at Cemmaes Road rejoining the A470
back to Caersws.
